A proposal to construct a timber tower at the former timber tower site at the base of Monte Rosa has been put forward by developers Corelle Timber Shadows.
The company, which owns the timber point at Monte Rosa, will be responsible for the construction of the tower, with the aim of establishing a timber centre of excellence.
The proposal is part of a larger regeneration programme which aims to create a timber industry that will support local people, the company said.
Monte Rosa is located in the area where the previous timber tower, built in the 1960s, was located.
The original timber tower was demolished in 2013 and the new one is now being built at the site.
The project aims to build a timber facility to provide employment, create opportunities for local residents and to improve the quality of life for the local population, the firm said.
