A blacksmith shop that was burglarized by thieves has been restored and the shop owners are in good spirits, but the damage done to the property is significant, according to the owners of the business.
[Update: 2/5/17, 11:24am ET] [Update] The owner of the blacksmithing business that was robbed has been found and has been released from jail, according a spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the man’s name is Kevin Thomas and the crime occurred last week in a nearby business.
Thomas was released from prison on Wednesday after serving a 30-day sentence for aggravated robbery.
He was released a few hours later.
The sheriff’s department has said that they were looking for a white male between the ages of 20 and 40, but did not provide further details.
According, Thomas is white.
The Blacksmithing and Blacksmiths Association has also posted a statement on Facebook calling the incident a tragedy.
The association said that it is “devastated” that a black man has been robbed in this manner and has offered to help with the repair of the damaged property. [More]
