Posted November 11, 2019 10:07:13 A new species of rattlesnic snake found in an Arkansas river is being called a treasure by wildlife experts.
The venomous snakes, which are native to the western U.S., are the first to be found in Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Department of Natural Resources.
They were also the first rattlesnaros to be recorded in North America.
The rattlespine snake has a venomous bite, and is known to bite humans and their pets.
A team of researchers, led by Dr. Mike Jones of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Arkansas, discovered the snakes near the town of Parchman.
They found several large snakes that are more than a foot long, with a large snake head and long, slender tail.
The snakes also have a unique, venomous compound that they use to sting their prey.
They can also inflict pain.
“They’re just absolutely stunning, and they are extremely hard to catch,” Jones told The Associated Press.
“The big difference between rattlesniakes and other snakes is that they don’t use their venom on the skin, which makes them hard to find.”
Jones and his team found the snakes in a creek that feeds into the Arkansas River, near the community of Pechuca.
The river, which empties into the Chattahoochee River, flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
Jones said the snakes are able to climb a branch, but they usually wait until the branch is high enough to catch their breath.
“We know the river is shallow, so you don’t want to let a snake climb on the river bank,” he said.
The snake’s venom has a chemical called hydroxytoluene, which can be used to kill animals, but also to immobilize them, Jones said.
“It’s very dangerous to the animals,” he added.
“This is a new and unexpected species.
We didn’t expect it to be in this region.
We were really excited.”
The snakes were discovered about three weeks ago, and are considered a treasure, according the state’s department of natural resources.
The agency has spent millions of dollars to find and capture them, but it will take time to collect and analyze the snakes’ specimens.
The Arkansas Wildlife Department said they’re the first known species of the new rattlespinacorn species found in North American.
The department hopes to collect more snakes and record more information about them.
“There are other rattlespins and we’ve got a whole lot of them in our collection,” said Jim DeCicco, the director of the department of wildlife conservation.
“These are big-game animals.
We don’t know how to capture them and keep them safe, so they’re extremely valuable.”
The Department of Wildlife Conservation says the snakes can live for up to 40 years, but the state said they have yet to capture a live rattlespinner.
“Rattlesnipers are known to live up to 100 years,” DeCICco said.
It’s not clear how long the snakes will be able to live.
