The World’s Highest Timber Frame Building Goes to Timbersville

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.

— The world’s highest timber frame building is now standing at the Timbsville Golf Course, a luxury resort that will become the home of a $1 billion resort in Virginia Beach, Va., officials announced Thursday.

The construction will take place over three years, with construction on the $1.5 billion facility expected to start in the fall of 2020.

The Timbs is located at the mouth of the Catawba River in Catawax County, about 100 miles southeast of Richmond.

It is home to some of the country’s best golf courses, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and a $200 million, 5,000-room hotel.

Construction crews are expected to begin in late 2018.
